This photo shows the weeks lesson plans and subjects
to be taught. To relieve the shortage of classroom space, half the
students attend in the morning, while the other half attend in the
afternoon.
Current enrollment – approximately 50% boys/50% girls:
Grade 8 - 35 students
Grade 9 - 46 students
Grade 10 - 44 students
Grade 11 - 33 students
Grade 12 - 16 students
Zambian Education Calendar has three school terms of 13 weeks each
term with breaks in April, August, and December. The new academic
year starts in January. Government exams are only offered in grades
7, 9, and 12 in November/December.
These exams are taken on national basis. All those who fall to
pass the exams can not continue with education. There are only
a few government high schools. Due to limited space, passing
the 9th grade exam does not guarantee you a placement in the 10th grade.
Here is what Frank Pupe – J. O. Chifundo
graduate and foreman of the building wants to share with you:
“Recently The Times of Zambia local
newspaper reported that more than 5,000 young people in Zambia
are not in school. Without education, many young ones are being sent to the street to steal, work
as sex workers, drink, crush stones and do things that don’t
bring glory to our God. I also feel education is the way forward
to help prevent AIDS in our communities.
Just as God’s plans are to prosper us, we as His children should
be like Him by reaching out to people we do not know. In our education
we work toward academic success and salvation through Jesus Christ”.
